Hi all

I don't normally post these map updates to the mailing list but figured I
would give it a go this time.

I just generated so new Wikidata item maps and a new difference image
(compared to March 2018) which highlights various areas of increase in
terms of items with coordinate locations.
I have collected snippets of the map and highlighted the areas and I would
love to be able to attribute the increase in coverage to users or projects.

If you know of any users or projects that caused the areas of increase
highlighted in the blog post below then please let me know.

https://addshore.com/2018/10/wikidata-map-october-2018/

The areas are:
- Africa
- Canada & the US
- Mexico
- Columbia
- Chile
- São Paulo & Brazil
- Iceland
- Scotland & Wales
- Finland
- Latvia
- Sri Lanka & Maldives
- Fiji

Thanks

Hi Addshore,

Thanks for sharing. I'm particularly interested to see Scotland and Wales have big increases. Does the visualization only include items with co-ordinate locations? or does it also include items with place statements (place of birth, depicts ect) ?

Thanks

Jason

I recently finished a higher education institutions from Brazil data import that should be responsible for something around 1k new coordinate locations.

Really cool project by the way! Really nice visualization.

Is it possible to extract the set of items with e.g. new coordinates in
Scotland, and then (a) histogram the item creation date; or (b) give a
list of the other properties on those items, highest frequency of
occurrence first?

This might reveal if someone had e.g. made a big addition of
heritage-listed buildings.

Cheers,

James.

That's definitely possible, but probably not the easiest :)
